Workshop: Best of Overberg Birding

This workshop by Anton Odendal is aimed at celebrating several of the top birdwatching destinations of the Overberg region. The destinations and how to get there are discussed in detail, together with an overview of the top bird species to look out for at each location. Potentially confusing identification characteristics are illustrated. The text used during the workshop is included in basic workshop notes to be forwarded to all participants before the workshop starts. The workshop will assist both local and visiting birders to make the most of birding in the region particularly during the summer months. Participants receive a special offer to join BirdLife Overberg.

08h00 to 09h00: The famous Rooiels site, Harold Porter Botanical Gardens and Fernkloof Nature Reserve
09h00 to 10h00: Overberg Wheatbelt birding
10h00 to 10h15: Tea
10h15 to 11h15: Coastal birding at De Mond Nature Reserve and Stony Point
11H15 to 12h30: The best sites for migratory and resident waders
12h30 to 13h00: Lunch
13h00 to 14h00: Forest birding: Marloth Nature Reserve, Witkrans, Platbos and more
14hoo to 15h00: Changing Overberg Bird Profiles
